Fight cancer with The World Oligarchy
United Devices, a forerunner in grid computing, has teamed up with the National Foundation for Cancer Research and the University of Oxford to search for potential medications to treat or perhaps cure cancer. The World Oligarchy has formed a team of volunteers to provide computing power for this project. This team is open to anyone who wishes to join.
Grid computing is a technology which allows the processing of data to be distributed among any number of computers with access to the internet. When you install the United Devices agent, it will automatically download a packet of data, which will contain information on various molecules which could potentially interact with cancer. Any time your computer is inactive, the agent works on an analysis of that data packet. When the analysis is complete, the results will be sent back to United Devices and another packet will be received.
By downloading the UD agent, you are donating inactive processing cycles on your computer. There is no drain on your computing resources. The agent only runs while your processor is otherwise unoccupied. The agent runs in the background and requires no activity on your part, save for installation. It is entirely safe; UD does not have access to anything on your computer other than the results of the data packet. You can find out more information at UD's website.
The World Oligarchy is running a team of volunteers running the UD agent in memory of Cronan Thompson, a good friend to many of us who passed away November 1, 1999, of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma cancer. By volunteering your spare computing cycles, you can help develop a treatment or cure, so that future cancer patients will have a greater chance of survival and recovery. You do not have to join a team to run the agent. We would like for you to join our team, but even if you don't want to, you can still volunteer your computer and help UD save lives.

Go to the United Devices website and download the agent. Make sure that your computer meets the minimum requirements. You can also find a lot more information on how grid computing works at this website.
Install and register the agent.
