Norman the Elf -- Enloe Campaign '98

by Brendan Dillon

The art of the Senior Prank is lost in many high schools these days. At Enloe High School, in Raleigh, NC, there have been a few pranks known, including the historical '97 I Am High vandalism, as well as our own Brent Jackson's SkipMaster Pro. However, I felt the need to add something of my own, and of course, The World Oligarchy had to be a part of it. It hit me: student body elections were coming up, and I had the perfect candidate, Norman the Elf. Skipping past the usual signature-signing and speech-writing merde-du-faureau, I created a series of posters and proceeded to make a total of 80 copies. A couple days later, I posted them throughout the school, and became the campaign manager for to most unlikely Student Body President candidate ever.

Of course, Norman lost the election, due to the corruption and authoritarianism of the faculty which ran the voting. Scan-Tron(TM) balloting was used, making a write-in impossible. A few people came to me afterwards to say they had written him in anyway, but of course those ballots could not have been counted. Regardless, the support was appreciated. Norman went on to kick ass in the Canadian War, and I graduated several months later.
