A brief note on Peter Jackson

Peter Jackson has gained recent notoriety for directing the highly acclaimed Lord of the Rings films. And while the Rings Trilogy serves to show even more reason why Jackson should be hailed as a God in THE TRUE RELIGION, we ordained him long before he became involved in the project, and long before he was a household name.

We saw his wonderfully bad zombie flick, Dead Alive (also known as Braindead) when we were in high school, and knew that he was a director to keep an eye on. His story of oversexed, doped-up Muppets, Meet the Feebles, could not be ignored either; though it is quite possibly the most disturbing movie ever made, it tends to grow on you. And his first widely-released motion picture, the Michael J. Fox vehicle The Frighteners, was nothing short of perfection.

Of course, Lord of the Rings is his masterpiece, and as well it should be. But we wanted to make it clear that we knew Peter Jackson back when.
